Congratulations to our very own Chandra Kendall on receiving the 2017 Outstanding Community Service Award by the Veterans Council of the Golden Isles

Chandra Kendall has gone above and beyond in service to Veterans. Her Father was in the Army in WWII, 28th Infantry Division, and her Brother served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Here are some of her accomplishments.

  • To honor her father, Chandra started in 2009 the annual SSGT Chandler H. Capps Jr. 28th Infantry Division Scholarship to assist 28th Infantry Soldiers with expenses the GI Bill doesn't cover and is 100% funded by her.
  • Each September, she travels to Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. to the 28th Infantry Division reunion, where she has the honor of reading the names of the prior year's fallen soldiers during the annual National Cemetery Memorial Service.
  • Each December, Chandra participates in "Wreaths Across America"  at Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville, GA, to lay wreaths on the graves of all soldiers, also assisting in fundraising.
  • She is an avid participant in Honor Flight, an organization that makes it possible for Veterans to visit their memorials in Washington DC. She has served as a Guardian for Savannah Honor Flights in April and October 2011; on Honor Air Jacksonville May 2011, and HF Central Florida Orlando in 2014. Chandra, along with Karen Mumford, created the first Coastal Georgia Honor Flight in 2015, in which Chandra served as Trip Director. As a result, she received the Volunteer of the Year award by Elegant Island Living Magazine for 2015. She assisted as Trip Advisor/Volunteer Coordinator for the 2016 Coastal Georgia Honor Flight, Inc. is currently service as a board member, and a Trip Advisor/Volunteer Coordinator for the 2017 and 2018 May flights.
  • Chandra, along with two others, created a committee to welcome Ernest Andrus, a 93 year old WWII Veteran, who ran across America to raise awareness and funds for his ship used in D-Day, the LST 325. Mr. Andrus ended his 3 year  journey on St. Simons on August 20, 2016, and was welcomed by at least a thousand people and a celebration party at the American Legion Post on St. Simons
  • Additionally, Chandra and her husband, Steve, served as volunteers for the "Wings Over the Golden Isles" air show, in Brunswick, GA in March 2017.

Chandra has been a licensed Realtor since 1990.
